New Year, new page
I wish all stresslinux users a happy new year. Starting with the new year we launched the new webpage which is based on trac. Trac offers more flexibility when updating our content and is easy to extend with plugins and macros.
Release published (0.4.136)
This release (0.4.136) is the first one which is available as 32-bit and 64-bit build, contains all official updates from the base distribution and additionally updates the following packages to current versions: stress, nbench, nepim, netperf, lm_sensors, memtest86+ and busybox. These packages are added to the distribution: dbench, tiobench, rsync and firmware packages for different kernel drivers. There are some fixes to smartd, hddtemp, ifstatus, environment and useability.
Release published (0.4.111)
Stresslinux 0.4.111 is released and is a preview release The main change is the use of susestudio as build system which uses kiwi. More detailed changes can be found in changelog Please post problems / bugs / feature requests to our forum.
Mailinglist migration
I successfully migrated the mailinglists to mailman, all subscribed people from the old list got a welcome mail with new list informations.
Happy Birthday Stresslinux
Three years Stresslinux and after a long time of development the final release 0.3.1 is released. The changes between rc4 and this final are very small. The kernel version was bumped to version 2.6.16.18 and the Realtek R1000 driver was added. Everton Marques suggested to add the following network testing tools, which are now included: nepim, iperf, netperf Busybox reached version 1.1.3. With this final release the PXE packages are available, too. Thanks goes to all the testers of the release candidates....
Page update
Just a small update to the page happend. I spent some time to update most pages to valid HTML 4.01 I installed a Forum to gather more feedback about stresslinux. Until now the feedback traffic by mail was really low. So please register at the forum and post feedback. You can also post your own testscripts and sensors configurations for inclusion in furure releases Currently i'm working on the next release, which should be out on stresslinux's birthday on 31 May, but my buiildsystem an aged Dual-Athlon...

What is stresslinux

stresslinux is a minimal linux distribution running from a bootable cdrom, usb, vmware or via PXE (wip).

stresslinux makes use of some utitlities available on the net like: stress, cpuburn, hddtemp, lm_sensors ...

stresslinux is dedicated to users who want to test their system(s) entirely on high load and monitoring the health.

Who needs it

Stresslinux is for people (system builders, overclockers) who want to test their hardware under high load and monitor stability and thermal environment.

You should be familiar with linux console because stresslinux comes without a graphical user interface.
