GPU Stressing?
Hi guys,

Just discovered your distribution and looks like I found what I was looking for to do some stress testing. I was wondering if it is possible to also stress the GPU (Nvidia or ATI) by including their official open source drivers and some relevant software.

In order to keep the distribution small it would not matter if you had two different flavors Nvidia, ATI.

Keep up the good work!

RE: GPU Stressing?
I will think about it, until now there was no demand.
Do you know any good GPU stress testing utilities running on linux?

RE: GPU Stressing?
I know about glxgears but it is very simplistic.. There are a few benchmarks out there like the one found here: http://unigine.com/

But you have to install the system to hdd, then drivers then the benchmark. But if this could be done by a live-usb it would be perfect!

Besides proper GPU operation is crucial to a system's stability. CPU, RAM, GPU and HDD all need to operate properly to classify a system as stable. Not to mention those who overclock their GPUs using overclocked BIOSes...

Thanks for considering it Wink

RE: GPU Stressing?
hi

i run SETI@Home and would love a bootable stress test for graphics cards.
i'm getting a card that supports CUDA on monday with a factory OC.
the apps i found so far...

GPU-Burn (CUDA) http://wili.cc/blog/gpu-burn.html
MemtestG80/OpenCL http://folding.stanford.edu/English/DownloadUtils
CUDA GPU memtest http://sourceforge.net/projects/cudagpumemtest/

these tools would be invaluable to anyone running distributed computing projects on their GPU's.
gaming stress tests just don't cut it.

thanks for all your hard work. it's much appreciated.

I most certainly will consider it, until recently there was clearly not any require.Have you any idea a bit of good GPU stress tests resources operating in linux?

one that i've been using is CUDALucas (nvidia CUDA cards only)
http://sourceforge.net/projects/cudalucas/

just run it with -r 1

seems to push the card pretty hard, lets you know if errors pop up.
