What is a good method to really stress test a Hard Drive in Linux to see if it will fail under load? I seem to recall programs from my Windows 98 days that could check read and write as well as other things HD related. If I remember, it was from the old Boot Magazine that I got a program that would Benchmark stuff like that.
The drive is a SATA 2 Seagate Baracuda 500GB. Since my old computer is limited to SATA 1 I will not remove the jumper, thus limited to 150 speed.
Any thoughts appreciated.
